For trekkers, especially the solo ones, the Annapurna region is a paradise.
It combines some of Nepal’s most recognizable mountains, such as the big Annapurna itself and the fish-tailed Machhapuchchhre, with a first-rate trekking infrastructure and ease of access because more than half of the trailheads are only a couple of hours from Pokhara. Communities in this region like Gurung, Thakali, and Manangi add cultural taste. This region has a wide range of pathways that ranges from 3-day village treks in the foothills of the Annapurna Mountains to month-long hiking combinations of higher altitude Sanctuary and Annapurna Circuit. If you want to avoid the crowd, the path that climbs up to the Mardi Himal and Khopra provides a spectacular walk.
